Postgraduate community
NOVARS is home to a community of pro-active and self organised postgraduate students, attracting the interest of composers working with new media and surround systems, sound and visual artists with a focus on interactivity or sound-mapping, software designers and game-engine oriented composers, as well as performers with a taste for technology and sound experimentation.

Ignacio Pecino, Spain
PhD focus: Sonic Navigation in virtual environments , game-audio [completed]. This research proposes the use of real and virtual space as a new medium for the creation and organisation of sound events via computer-simulated audio-sources. In such a context, the role of the performer can now be assumed by the listener itself, through the operation of an interactive-adaptive system, or it can be replaced by a set of automated but flexible procedures.
